New trees, shrubs and plants are being planted all of the time. However, it's not always very well advertised when this happens. If I hear of anything I will add it to this page - a bit like a timeline. This will also include the wild patches which are throughout Exeter.
European Hop-hornbeam - (Ostrya carpinifolia) - Western Way green space - Winter 2020. This is a newly planted tree and is next to the mature cherry and elm tree. Have something to say about this tree? Please use the Blog.
Tulip tree (Liriodendron tulipifera) - St Thomas Pleasure Grounds - Winter 2020. There is already a mature Tulip tree in the park so the two together will add a real splash of colour on the early summer. Have something to say about this tree? Please use the Blog.
Black walnut (Juglans nigra) - Cowick Barton playing fields. Planted in Autumn 2020. This was planted shortly after the Pink Hawthorn and this was also a replacement for the two mature Sycamore trees that were removed. Have something to say about this tree? Please use the Blog.
Pink Hawthorn (Crataegus laevigata 'Paul's Scarlet') - Cowick Barton playing fields. Planted in Autumn 2020. This was a replacement for a recently felled Sycamore tree. Have something to say about this tree? Please use the Blog.
Silver birch (Betula pendula) by Alphington road - within the car park of Aldi and Iceland. Planted in Spring 2020. Possibly a replacement for the two trees that were removed in the past - unsure of the species but believe they might of been a Honey locust and Monterey pine. Japanese pagoda (Styphnolobium japonicum) at St Thomas pleasure grounds. Planted January 2020. This was planted at the same time as the Foxglove tree (Paulownia tomentosa) nearby. Have something to say about this tree? Please use the Blog.
4 x Pin oak (Quercus palustris) trees replaced in Princesshay shopping district. Planted November 2019. These trees tree were direct replacements for the 4 x Pin oaks that were removed the previous year. They are located in the area next to Nationwide. Have something to say about this tree?
