The bark is quite smooth and grey with pale yellow patches
The leaves are alternate, ovoid and often a bit lop-sided. Typically 6 to 15cm in length

During the summer time the fruit (capsules) are a light green colour
The pretty deep pink flowers are usually in full bloom in January

During the Autumn the colours of the leaves are a fantastic array of green, yellow and burgundy
The growth habit is often a mult-stemmed tree but quite often it will look more like a large shrub
